Doctors
Dr. Glenn H Shulkin, President
Dr. Glenn is President of The Dental Store, LTD. Dr. Glenn was born and raised in Chicago and its northern suburbs. He currently resides in Buffalo Grove with his wife, Janice and their son, Bradley and daughter, Amanda. Dr. Glenn is the eldest child of Dr. Neil Shulkin.
Dr. Glenn was one of the first American dentists to be formally trained and to be certified as a trainer in the use of YAG laser. He has presented seminars and training on laser technology and implementation at The Dental Store to hundreds of dentists, and has lectured at universities, professional, business and community groups. The Dental Store was the first dental practice in the U.S. to utilize the Nd:YAG laser following FDA approval.
He received his Bachelor and Doctorate Degrees in dental surgery from the University of Illinois College of Dentistry, after attending Indiana University majoring in Chemistry. He also served as an assistant at two major dental laboratories in the Chicago area….Major-Monroe Dental Laboratory and Summit Dental Laboratory.
Dr. Shulkin was charter member of the Board of Directors and a member of the Finance Committee of the International Academy of Laser Dentistry (1990). He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Laser Dentistry, a member of the American Society of Lasers in Medicine & Surgery, the American Dental Association, the Chicago Dental Society, the Illinois State Dental Society, Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity, the International Society of Laser Dentistry, the American Academy of Dental Group Practice, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Greater O’Hare Association, and a graduate of the Dale Carnegie Institute. He has earned hundreds of hours of continuing education.
Dr. Glenn Shulkin is co-author (with Dr. Neil Shulkin) of a textbook titled, “Professionally Speaking: A Marketing and Management Handbook for Dental and Medical Professionals” which is now in national distribution. He has appeared on several television programs, including WCIU-TV, American Medical TV, and the American Airlines TV. He has also been subject of several newspaper reports internationally.
Dr. Glenn enjoys racquetball, swimming, and basketball.
Dr. Elizabeth Shulkin-Cohn, Vice President
Dr. Elizabeth Shulkin Cohn currently resides in Chicago, Illinois. She was born and raised in Northbrook, Illinois and attended the University of Illinois at Champaign for her pre-dental studies, and received her Bachelors of Dentistry Degree and her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree at the University of Illinois College of Dentistry in Chicago. She graduated in the Honors Program at UIC and was nominated to the national dental honor society. She received an Award for Clinical Excellence from the American Equilibration Society.
Dr. Beth is a member of the American Dental Association, the Chicago Dental Society, the Illinois State Dental Society, the American Association of Women Dentists, the American Academy of Dental Group Practice, the Academy of General Dentistry, Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity, and others. She has received special training in laser dentistry and air abrasive technology.
Dr. Beth is the youngest child of Dr. Neil Shulkin and sister of Dr. Glenn Shulkin. Her interests include all athletics, especially swimming and basketball, and music.
Dr. Jerry Vandoros
Dr. Jerry Vandoros was born and raised in Chicago.
Dr. Vandoros received his Bachelor of Science Degree at Loyola University of Chicago and his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree at Northwestern University of Chicago in 1979. Upon graduation he entered private practice, as well as teaching for several years in the department of crown and bridge at Northwestern. He joined The Dental Store group in 1995 and practices all aspects of general dentistry.
His hobbies include golf and the Lake Shore Athletic Club.
Dr. William B. Ross
Dr. Brian was born and raised in Chicago and its western suburbs. He attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign majoring in Biology. He received his Bachelor of Science in Dentistry and Doctor of Dental Surgery degrees at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry.
Dr. Brian is a member of the American Dental Association, The Chicago Dental Society, The Illinois State Dental Society, and The Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Brian's interest includes sports, music, movies and reading.
Dr.Scott McCarty
Dr. Scott McCarty is a general dentist and new associate with The Dental Store. Dr. Scott is experienced with many facets of dentistry such as restorative and children's dentistry. He is very excited to get to know and treat new patients. His friendly and welcoming style has proven successful with patients.
Dr. Scott originally grew up in the suburbs of St. Louis, Missouri. He then moved to Chicago where he attended and graduated from Loyola University Chicago with his B.S., Summa cum Laude, in Biology in 2005. He received his D.D.S. from the University of Illinois Chicago, College of Dentistry in May 2009. Dr. Scott has been working for over a year in a private practice before joining The Dental Store. He is a member of American Dental Association, the Chicago Dental Society and the Illinois State Dental Society among others.
Dr. Scott live in Park Ridge, Illinois with his wife of three years, Leah. His hobbies include hockey, movies and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. James Beard
Dr. James Beard was born in Modesto, CA and attended Stanford University where he received his Bachelors degree in Biology. He remained at Stanford University to perform research in behavioral physiology and to complete his Masters Degree.
Dr. Beard attended the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia where he earned his Doctorate in Dentistry. Following his graduation, he received a residency at Michael Reese Hospital and subsequently attended Northwestern University for Periodontics specialty training and received his second Masters degree. He is a member of the American Association of Periodontists.
Dr. Beard and his wife, Florentina, reside in Chicago. He is a member of the American Association of Periodontists. His leisure time is spent windsurfing, bicycling and skiing.
Dr. Joseph Kunnel
Dr. Kunnel is a graduate of Marquette University Dental School. He has a Master's of Science in Orthodontics and has a Doctorate in Dental Surgery from the University Of Illinois College of Dentistry. He also holds a PH. D. in molecular Pharmacology and Biological Chemistry. He has taken extensive post-graduate courses in orthodontic studies and has lectures widely on topics of orthodontic interest.
He currently resides with his wife, Jessie, a practicing dentist and his two daughters, Theresa and Elizabeth. In his spare time he enjoys tennis, reading and pursuing research projects.
Dr. Robert A. Katin
Dr. Robert Katin lives in Deerfield, IL with his wife, Marcia. Dr. Katin is an associate and partner with Dr. Robert Lubar in their offices in Northbrook, IL, downtown Chicago, and at The Dental Store.
Dr. Katin received his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree and his Oral Surgery Residency at the University of Pennsylvania. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Chicago Dental Society, the Illinois State Dental Society, the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity, and others.
Dr. Robert L. Lubar
Dr. Robert Lubar grew up in Chicago and along with his wife, Terry and their children, they currently live in Northbrook, IL.
Dr. Lubar received his dental training at Loyola University in Chicago and his specialty residency at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Lubar is an Oral Surgeon with a sub-specialty in Implant Dentistry and has participated in research and development for the popular Core-Vent Implant system. He currently lectures and teaches dentists on the use of Core-Vent Implants throughout the country.
Dr. John Pawluk
Dr. John Pawluk was born in New York City. He received a B.S. in Biology and his D.D.S. degree from the University of Michigan. Following graduation he serviced as the Chief Endodontic resident at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey where he received his Certificate of Endodontics in 2004.
Dr. Pawluk received many honorary awards including, the Student Achievement Award in Endodontics from the American Association of Endodontics, The Comprehensive Care Award of Excellence in Patient Care, and membership into the honorary dental society, Omicron Kappa Upsion.
He is a member of the American Association of Endodontics, American Dental Association, Illinois Dental Society and the South Suburban Dental Society.
Dr. Pawluk prides himself in being compassionate and caring, and in trying to make every patient "feel at home" and have a pleasant experience.
Hygienists
Tamela Liska, RDH
Tamela was born in northern Wisconsin. She moved to Palatine and is a graduate of William Fremd High School. She received her RDH from Harper College and is trained in Orofacial Myology. Tamela currently resides in Hoffman Estates with her daughter, Lauren.
Ana Alvar, RDH
Ana currently resides in Schaumburg, IL. She was born and raised in the Philippines and migrated to the United States in October 2000. Ana was accepted in April 2003 to the Dental hygiene program at William Rainey Harper College in Palatine, IL. She earned her degree in Dental Hygiene in May 2005. Ana passed the National Boards in Dental Hygiene Examination in June 2005 and is a Registered Dental Hygiensit. She is currently a member of the Illinois Dental Hygienists Association and the American Dental Hygienists Association.
Julia Goma, RDH
Julia was born in the Congo and her primary language is French. She moved to the U.S. in 2001 to attend high school in Champaign, IL. Upon graduation Julia attended Parkland College in Chamgaign, IL where she received her Dental Hygiene degree. Julia resides in Bartlett, IL and enjoys spending time with her niece and nephew.
Cindy Hawkins, RDH
Cindy grew up in Reiverside and raised her children in Lemont. She graduated from Loyola Dental Hygiene school.
Cindy has 2 sons and 3 grandchildren. She enjoys spending time with family when not working.
Kristina (Rita) Kripko-Rozovics, RDH
Rita graduated from Prairie State College in 1999. She has worked for both general and periodontal practices in the past. Rita believes that it is very important to educate patients about different procedures; preventative, restorative and cosmetic dentistry. Good results are ashieved because of teamwork between the provider and the patient. She has found that being a hygienist can be very rewarding.
Before becoming a hygiensit she wanted to be an archeologist. Rita was fortunate to go to Egypt with her class. In her free time, she loves to travel to other countries and visit historical places. Currently Ritas resides in Niles with her husband, baby daughter and their very smart dog.
